Fall Speaker Event - "Spooky Stories of Lake Erie's Past"

Jennifer Boresz Engelking will share true and “Spooky Stories from Lake Erie’s Past” that she has uncovered in the research for her books about the history of Lake Erie and the region surrounding the lake. This is the Historical Society's FREE Fall Speaker event at the Catawba Island Township Community Hall, following their annual Board of Trustees meeting.

Boresz Engelking is a regional author who grew up along the shores of Lake Erie in Northeast Ohio. She has written five books, including "Lost Lake Erie" published by The History Press in 2023 and "Hidden History of Lake Erie" which will be published October 28. She has always been drawn to the stories of the lake, particularly little known tales of shipwrecks and legends, along with stories of Catawba and the Lake Erie islands which are included in her books. Before becoming an author, she worked as a broadcast reporter at CBS stations in Erie, PA and Toledo, OH and wrote and produced historical documentaries for PBS. She even once played a reporter in the movie Unstoppable, directed by Tony Scott. She is also the mother of three children, which she considers her most important role, and she and her husband Brian enjoy bringing their family to Catawba Island and the area to go on adventures and explore what our Great Lake has to offer.
