Jess Deacon is a musician, strategist, and the founder of Mostly Music – a platform built to amplify the value of music in Kāpiti and Horowhenua.
In this talk, she shares the honest story of what it’s like to build something with heart in an industry that’s constantly undervalued.
From navigating the not-so-glamorous world of funding applications and council meetings, to constantly making space for others while struggling to prioritise her own creative work, Jess opens up about the reality of working in the arts while wearing many hats: mother, stepmother, daughter, business leader, and woman with a never-ending to-do list.
