"A Funny Place" - a Presentation by the Author

"A Funny Place" is a collection of humorous, nostalgic stories by Mark Convoy about growing up in Pompton Plains, New Jersey—close to New York City but far removed in spirit. It was a place where suburban neighborhoods met open fields and woods, giving kids freedom to explore, roam, and get into harmless trouble.

The stories shine because they’re told from a child’s perspective—innocent, spontaneous, and filled with memorable characters who feel increasingly rare today. They consistently spark laughter and smiles while evoking a simpler, more playful time. Funny and heartfelt, these tales are a warm reminder of the charm of small-town childhood and the joy of growing up with room to wander.

The program starts at 7:30 p.m. at the American Legion hall in Pompton Plains.
