Welcome to Goldcoast Ballroom's WCS monthly dances - hosted by Dawn Sgarlata!
We are excited to kick off the new year with a special new guest instructor - let's welcome Lyla Ruth! She is joining us from Tampa and has a very diverse background in theater and dance. She will also be available for private lessons, so contact me for details.
Dawn will be spinning the tunes. Music will be a California Mix (80% WCS, the rest Hustle, 2-step, Nightclub 2, Cha-Cha, Line Dance, etc.)
Light snacks will be provided and cash bar available.
We can't wait to see everyone! Our motto - come dance, be friendly and have a great time!!
Doors open at 7pm.
7:30pm-8:30pm (WCS class - Int level) - Lyla
A separate 30min WCS beginner class will be taught if needed from 7:45pm-8:15pm
Dance 8:30pm - 11:30pm
Cost - $20.00 pp
More about Lyla...
Lyla, a lifelong dancer and instructor, has made an indelible mark on the stage with her unwavering passion for dance and musical theater. With a diverse career spanning teaching, performing, producing, and choreographing, she has showcased her talent in over two dozen popular musicals, including Footloose, Grease, and original works, collaborating with esteemed institutions such as local schools, the City of Clearwater, and various theater departments.
Lyla actively supports the arts community through free online classes and fundraising efforts. Her heart beats for swing dance, as evidenced by the success of her show It Don’t Mean a Thing: A Tribute to Swing, which drew 1,000 attendees in 2021. Her commitment to learning is clear—she recently completed teacher training in two dance forms, earning both ITAPONLINE Level 2 certification and graduating from Swing Diversity University’s teacher and judges program.
In addition, Lyla has received multiple choreography awards over the past several years, most notably being recognized as Tampa Bay’s Best Choreographer.
She strives to create inclusive stages and empower individuals to pursue their dance dreams. Lyla currently teaches tap dance, musical theater, West Coast Swing, and Country Swing locally and across the country. Her mission is to help people live happier lives through high-quality productions, entertainment, and education.
