About this Event

About the Event:

In 1621, after the colonists' first successful harvest, Governor William Bradford proclaimed that they might, "after a special manner rejoice together." But what did that mean? How do we know? And what does it mean today? Join Kate LaPrad, Deputy Director for Special Projects & Strategic Partnership, to answer the most frequently asked questions about the 1621 harvest feast known today as the First Thanksgiving. It may be more complex, more human and more interesting than you think.

Speaker Bio:

Kate LaPrad is the Deputy Director for Special Projects & Strategic Partnerships at Plimoth Patuxet Museums. Kate joined the museum as a grant writer in July 2010 after graduating with an MA from the Winterthur-University of Delaware Program in American Material Culture. She also holds a BA in art history and history from the University of Delaware.

This program is made free to the public, both virtually and in person, through support from the Plymouth Local Cultural Council.
