**The 3rd NY Shidokan Kagamibiraki Youth Kendo Tournament and Mixed Dan Team Tournament in 2026**

Dear Sensei and Kenshi,

NY Shidokan is pleased to announce the New Year (Kagamibiraki) tournament for all of you. Kagamibiraki is a traditional Japanese event in which the Kagamimochi that were displayed during the New Year are taken down from the alcove or alcove of a Shinto altar and eaten to pray for good health and good fortune. The "kagami" in kagamimochi and kagami-biraki means peace and happiness, and the "biraki" means the end of the year. Kagamibiraki" is also called "Kagami-wari," but since the word for "break" is an abomination, it is generally called We look forward to your participation in the Kagamibiraki tournament with its auspicious origin.

Shinsa Schedule:

8:30 AM, Shinsa registration begins.

9:00 AM, Shinsa begins.

Tournament Schedule and Division:

10:00 AM, ALL Tournament registration.

10:45 AM, Youth and Adult team Tournament Opening Ceremony

Youth Kendo Tournament: 9 and under, 10-12, 13-15, and 16-18 boys division and girls division) division individual matches (match time: 2 minutes for 15 and under (3 minutes for high school division), if the winner is not decided within the time, the match will be extended by 2 minutes, and if the winner is still not decided, the match will be Hantei. the first round is a round-robin match in the preliminary round format).

1:30 p.m.: Adult team competition. There will be three divisions of team competitions: 3-dan and under 3-person divisions and 4-dan and above 3-person divisions and Senior (50 years old and above) 3-person divisions.

*Depending on the number of participants, it is basically a tournament format. If there are not enough teams, the first round will be a round-robin format with 2 to 3 teams, with the first and second place teams moving up to the final tournament.

Match time: 3 minutes for 3-dan and below, 4 minutes for 4-dan and above and Senior. Match end time is scheduled for 3:30 pm.

3:45 pm Awards ceremony and closing ceremony will be held.

4:00 pm followed by a get-together (Kagamibiraki party) at the dojo. You are expected to bring your own drinks, food and snacks, but the dojo will also provide drinks and snacks (rice cakes, etc.).
