๐ฑ ๐ถ ๐น ๐ญ ๐ฐ ๐ฎ ๐ท ๐ขTrinity Episcopal Church will have a St. Francis Day pet blessing at the church, 230 Market St., Saturday at noon.
Oct. 4 is the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi, founder of the Franciscan Order and the patron saint of animals and ecology, who wrote a Canticle of the Creatures: โAll praise to you, Oh Lord, for all these brother and sister creatures.โ
The book Vigina (โThe Little Flowersโ) tells a story about Francisโ giving a sermon to a flock of birds: โMy sister birds, you owe much to God, and you must always and in everyplace give praise to Him; for He has given you freedom to wing through the sky and He has clothed you โฆ you neither sow nor reap, and God feeds you and gives you rivers and fountains for your thirst, and mountains and valleys for shelter, and tall trees for your nests. And although you neither know how to spin or weave, God dresses you and your children, for the Creator loves you greatly and He blesses you abundantly. Therefore โฆ always seek to praise God.โ
The public and their pets โ two-, four- or no-legged, winged or finned โ are welcome.
