➭ Opening today in The Hodge Gallery: "Idea Furnace Retrospective." Nearly 60 artists have participated in the Idea Furnace, our experimental design program that connects non-glass artists with glass artists and encourages exploration in other art forms. The “Idea Furnace Retrospective” is the second iteration of this exhibition that showcases the work of 6 artists of other mediums who participated in the Idea Furnace program and were inspired by glass. Artists featured in the exhibition include Renee Cox, Sean Derry, Wade Kramm, Erin Mallea, Mary Martin, and Alisha Wormsley. A free opening reception will be held 6–9pm.
➭ Enjoy live, narrated flameworking and glassblowing demonstrations throughout the day.
➭ Get hands-on and try glassmaking with a free community mosaic activity from 10am to 4pm in the Classroom.
➭ Visitors can also try with our Walk In + Make-It-Now glassmaking activity! From 1–5pm, anyone ages 5 & up can sign up at our Front Desk to make a sculpted glass paperweight or a blown glass ornament for just $55 per person. Learn more: www.pittsburghglasscenter.org/walk-in-make-it-now/
