Accurate, real‑time ground truth saves lives. During severe weather, NWS warning meteorologists rely on trained storm spotters to confirm what radar can’t always see, tornadoes, large hail, damaging winds, and flash flooding.
This Tactical Storm Spotter course goes beyond basic spotter training and focuses on how to safely and effectively deploy spotters during high‑impact weather events.

How severe storms develop and behave
What severe storms look like on radar
Identifying key cloud features and hazards
Tactical deployment of spotters
Spotter safety during severe weather
How to clearly and efficiently report critical information to the NWS
Intended Audience:
Fire, Law Enforcement, Dispatch/911, Amateur Radio operators, and others with dedicated two‑way communications
The general public is also welcome to attend

Online SKYWARN Spotter Training
