Knitting Your First Sweater: Before Casting on Class

Knitting a sweater is not only an investment in the cost of yarn, it's an investment of time too. You want the finished sweater to fit well and to do that, you need to do a little work before casting on stitches.

During this class we will learn how to take accurate measurements to help you decide on a size, look at how ease affects the size and pattern you choose, and consider adjustments to the pattern itself. We will also look at selecting the appropriate yarn for the pattern you choose.

I will have a few first sweater pattern ideas for you, but if you have one you've been considering, bring it along. If you would like me to measure you during class (we have a bathroom to provide some privacy) wear a light weight tee shirt (long or short sleeve) that fits you without additional bulk. I will demonstrate how to take these measurements for those of you who will want to do this at home.
