The Fraser Coast is set to welcome acclaimed actor and filmmaker Charlie Di Stefano this October for a special appearance at the Fraser Shorts Film Festival, including an exclusive screening of his award-winning film Is This Forever and a live Q&A.
Inspired by the tragic loss of his older brother Lucca in 2020, Is This Forever is a deeply personal and emotionally honest exploration of grief, mental illness, and brotherhood. The film has struck a powerful chord with audiences globally, receiving over 40 awards on the international festival circuit for its raw, fearless storytelling.
“In grief, especially as young men, we’re rarely taught how to process pain or talk about it,” says Charlie. “This film came from the hardest moment in my life, but I hope it becomes a light for others who feel they’re in the dark. Being open about your emotions isn’t weakness—it’s the strongest thing you can do.”
Fraser Coast audiences will have a rare opportunity to watch the film during a special screening and Q&A with Charlie on Saturday, 18th October at 3:00 PM at BigScreen Cinemas Hervey Bay.
Joining Charlie for the Q&A will be Bob Davis, founder of Operation Hard Yakka, a youth military-style development and training program based on Australian boot camp principles. The program focuses on helping troubled youth through discipline, resilience-building, and practical strategies to overcome life’s challenges. Charlie’s brother Lucca DiStefano attended Operation Hard Yakka.
Charlie Di Stefano has built a strong career in film, television, and theatre, with standout roles in Neighbours, Last King of the Cross (Season 2), Crazy Fun Park, How to Stay Married, and Hoodlumz. His earlier short films, In a World of Copies and 11 Years, also received critical acclaim, but it is Is This Forever that has firmly established him as an emerging voice in Australian cinema.
