SIMON EKPA HAS DONE THE UNIMAGINABLE:
THE PRIME MISTER OF BIAFRAN GOVERNMENT IN EXILE HAS DENIED BIAFRA BY CLAIMING THAT HE WAS JUST A CONTENT CREATOR FOR SOCIAL MEDIA ENTERTAINMENT.
Simon Ekpa has just realized that he faces a long prison term in Finland. He must also have some residual fear that he might soon be meeting his boss, Nnamdi Kanu, in the DSS detention center. With these on his mind, he knows that the moment of truth has finally come upon him. He has accepted his new fate, and he has decided to say the truth. According to him, that truth is that he is not any Prime Minister of any Biafran Government. He also has told the Finnish investigators that he did not mean any of those things he has been saying on social media. He said he is only a content creator who entertained people on social media.
Ekpa’s moment of truth comes with a touch of irony, yet a compelling reality about the absurdity in using the name of Biafra to deceive and defraud. He was basically biafrauding his followers. Few of us, Igbos, have been telling anyone that bothered to listen that all this stuff about IPOB was a joke taken too far, with deadly consequences. We are not surprised to know that there was never any seriousness about the Simon Ekpa activities. We also know there is no seriousness to any of them – even Nnamdi Kanu. Yes, there has always been the Biafran situation. That is not a joke. The fact that the Igbos have been victims of an unending war in Nigeria is a reality. The fact that we must find a solution to that war is also a reality. But that does not mean that anyone who comes out to shout Biafra means well. Even if they mean well in their hearts, you must look at their actions.
The failure to look at the actions of those claiming to fight for Biafra is the biggest undoing of their followers. They naively assumed that once you declare yourself for Biafra, everything else you say or do must be good. Well, the message of Simon Ekpa was good for some. But now, you can see it is nothing but skit-making and social media fluff taken to an extreme madness. It was a fraud and deception.
The Igbos must finally accept that the term biafraud is not just an insult from non-Igbos. The tendency to use the name of Biafra to deceive people actually exists in reality. Many people – Ralph Uwazurike, Nnamdi Kanu, and Simon Ekpa - are all the same. They've all used deception based on the name of Biafra. Even the lesser known demigods among them – Ifeanyi Ejiofor, Emma Powerless, etc. - are all the same thing – committing fraud on the people in the name of Biafra.
I am sorry if you don’t like me saying this. But if you look closely, you will find that I have been consistent in my message. For seven years, I have told you the same thing – that IPOB’s method is dangerous. It is either that they are too naïve or that they are too dishonest. It is actually the latter. Biafra will never be achieved through the method these elements have advocated. The only thing they can achieve is the continued killing of the Igbos in Igboland. They made the actualization of Biafra a lot less desirable and far more unlikely.
It is really a tragedy that the same Simon Ekpa, who had been calling on the Igbos to sit at home or die for venturing out of their homes, was only making skits for social media clout-chasing. What a tragedy! What a coward.
