Cosmic Realms Con, West Virginia's only science fiction convention, returns to the picturesque Battlers Knob campus (the former Alderson Broaddus University) in Philippi, WV on October 4-5, 2025. The convention features innovative events including the first-of-its-kind Mad Science Fair Cosplay Competition and an Intergalactic Masquerade evening event for ages 16+. Attendees can experience a wondrous sci-fi art gallery showcasing talented local artists and a performance by the acclaimed Augusta Youth Ballet.
Special guest speakers include WVU radio astronomer Professor Emmanuel Fonseca exploring cosmic mysteries and staff from the Challenger Learning Center discussing their space education programs. Convention-goers can network with members of STARFLEET International and the WV Astrophotography Association, with Battlers Knob's prime location offering exceptional evening stargazing opportunities.
Hands-on workshops include cosplay basics with creature fabricator Dr. Greg Popovich and miniature painting with artist BJ Lyons. The fully stocked Game Center provides opportunities to learn new games, join Magic: The Gathering or Pokémon matches, or receive Warhammer instruction from local experts.
The event features talented artists and vendors, with nearly all programming family-friendly aside from the evening masquerade. Cosmic Realms Con continues its commitment to creating an inclusive environment for sci-fi fans, disabled community members, and neurodivergent attendees with our ample seating and dedicated quiet zones.
