The Goal of Speaking In SpED is to learn how to speak the language of our neurodivergent family members and students to better understand, serve, and learn from them. This is exactly what we will be doing at this event.
This will not be your normal/neurotypical Back to School Event. It will be geared toward our Special Education parents and students meeting their IEP Village. We will be giving school supplies specifically chosen to address the unique needs of our neurodivergent students to the first 30 children!
One of the biggest hits of this event last year was our Speaking With the SpEDs panel. It consists of youth and adult neurodivergents, a college-attending neurodivergent, and a parent of a neurodivergent. We would be so grateful if you could participate this year as one of our panelists. Our vision for the panel is for those in attendance to hear from those who are currently navigating life as a neurodivergent or an advocate parent of a neurodivergent in a neurotypical society. We have adults on the panel to drive the point home that Neurodivergency does not end when you stop going to school or being eligible for an IEP. We want our educators and their village to know what their students should look forward to in navigating the world as neurodivergent individuals.
