Service Project - Saturday Morning, September 13
In June, I received an invitation to check out Southside Community Center, a ministry in San Marcos supported by our network of United Methodist Churches and the national women’s ministry, United Women in Faith. Southside is a hub which empowers neighbors to meet their essential needs. Since January of this year, they’ve served 3,549 meals; 150 received emergency utility assistance; 465 showers were provided just in the first quarter; and 24 families have been rehoused since March 2025.
We have an opportunity to participate in a special work day on the morning of Saturday, September 13. We will join with folks from United Campus Ministry at Texas State. We’ll leave the church in our church van at 8am, arrive in San Marcos at Southside Community Center at 9am, work until Noon, and be back at church at 1pm. (If you prefer to drive yourself, that works too.)
This is an intergenerational service opportunity, so children and all ages are welcome. All skill levels are welcome too, because we’ll have a variety of work to choose from: basic landscaping, small painting projects, organizing items/storage areas, deep cleaning, or some heavy lifting.
