The Sweet Potato Band provides a unique and captivating blend of guitar, vocals, flute and percussion on songs from a wide range of musical genres, including folk, blues, country rock, and classic pop hits.
The band includes Michael Imes on guitar and vocals, Dave McClurg on flute and Bert Kreitlow on percussion. Together they covers songs by well-known artists such as Crosby Stills Nash & Young, the Band, the Eagles, the Grateful Dead, Zach Brown, the Decemberists, Bob Dylan, John Prine, Randy Newman, Van Morrison, the Marshal Tucker Band and many more.
Michael is a master potter who teaches his craft at Caroll University and loves to play frisbee golf when he’s not working out new tunes on the guitar. He and Dave have been playing together for nearly 20 years.
Dave has a day job as an employment attorney, and has been a devoted sport touring motorcyclist since he was 15 – always carrying his flute with him on extended rides.
Bert started playing with the band a couple of years ago and has added a great percussion element to the group. Bert’s a retired college professor who taught Latin American studies at U.W. Whitewater, and loves cooking and reading.
The band has enjoyed opportunities to play at coffee houses, farmer’s markets, festivals, fund raisers and private parties.
