Picking up from Paula and Toni's legendary swing dance night, DJ Murray Rose will be hosting a new night of dancing at the Easington Minners Welfare Hall- featuring live music from your favourites, the Magpies of Swing!
Originally built in 1929 in the heart of the former mining community, with state of the art dance floor- one of the biggest sprung dance floors in County Durham- the centre still remains open providing vital facilities for its community.
Murray Rose is the selector, bring the choicest sides from 1920s, 30s, 40s and 50s, including jazz, swing and blues, all perfect for cutting some rug!
The Magpies of Swing are a collective of swing dancers, making music for you to dance to. "Giving the hits and near-misses of the '20s, '30s and '40s the hottest work out since the Palomar Ballroom in L.A. burnt down(*)", the Magpies play tunes and songs from Duke Ellington and Count Bassie, Ella Fitzgerald and Fats Waller and more besides.
