Step into The Wonder of Christmas at Peterborough Cathedral
19th November – 4th December 2025 | Christmas Tree Festival until January 2026
This November, Peterborough Cathedral will become the setting for an extraordinary festive journey. The Wonder of Christmas runs from 19th November to 4th December 2025, combining breathtaking light installations, snowfall, music, and community creativity. A brand-new Christmas Tree Festival will then continue into the New Year, filling the Cathedral with colour and sparkle until January.
From the moment you arrive in Cathedral Square, guiding lights on the rooftops will lead you towards a world of enchantment. Visitors will encounter:
A radiant circle of light around the Norman Arch, with drifting snow and curtains that part to reveal a magical Christmas wonderland.
Buildings and trees illuminated with colour-shifting lights, painting the precincts in festive hues.
A huge sleigh and reindeer photo opportunity on the Cathedral’s West Lawn.
Festoon lights leading the way across the grass to the West Front.
Snowfall at the entrance, beginning your Christmas adventure.
An immersive light and sound journey inside the Cathedral, drawing you through its medieval spaces.
A spectacular projection on the Nave ceiling, where visitors can follow the guiding star.
Papier-mâché reindeer created by local schools, standing proudly among the displays.
At least 20 real Christmas trees, each one decorated by local community groups as part of the inaugural Christmas Tree Festival.
The Christmas Tree Festival is included in the ticketed evening Wonder of Christmas event but will also be open during the day through to January, with entry by suggested donation. Christmas starts at the Cathedral…
