This is part 2 of a 3-part technical sewing course. It explores intermediate level sewing techniques and is designed for people who want to learn more advanced sewing skills. By the end of this course, you will have the skills to create and finish garments from shop bought patterns to a proficient standard. You will also be able to use a variety of fabric types and compositions.
It is ideal for people who have completed the beginner course or have a good knowledge of sewing.
This 12-week interactive course combines theory and practice, and will cover:
● Making and inserting sleeve plackets.
● Cuffs insertion.
● Stitching in the ditch technique.
● Working with elastic.
● Shirring.
● Box and godet pleating.
● Making and inserting stand collars.
● Finishing yokes using a burrito method.
● Handling tricky fabric ‘tips and tricks’ part 1: thick, thin, and stretch.
● Stitching tucks: blind, pin, spaced, shell, corded, wave.
● Making and attaching bias binding.
● Making and attaching edge piping.
● Sewing piped buttonholes.
● Cutting, inserting, and managing ruffles and flounces.
● Inserting hip pockets and lined pockets.
● Making and inserting interface waistbands.
● Inserting a fly zip.
● Stitching and finishing crotches.
