Awntari

Awntari is a contemporary folk band originating from Ontario, Canada. Composed of Fern and Willow Marwood, and Alex Showdra, Awntari performs a lot of original music along with some traditional Celtic tunes. With a mix of fiddle, banjo, guitar, and vocals, Awntari works to push the boundaries of traditional folk music.

All three musicians have had impressive solo careers before joining forces as a trio. Fern and Willow have traveled Canada and the US with their group, “The Receivers” performing at festivals, theatres, bars, and many other events. Fern and Willow have made appearances on CTV, and are both two time Canadian Folk Music Award nominees. Along with playing in Awntari, Alex tours the continent and performs regularly with the iconic Celtic rock band, “the Mudmen”. He has also made TV appearances, studio recordings and numerous performances with violin and guitar duo “Blue Moon”.

Awntari believes in bringing people together through music, and love the connection they feel with their audiences whenever they’re on stage. Their sincerest hope is that audiences will walk away feeling something profound and emotional after their performances.
