About the event

ACROSS THE ICE: HOW WE SAVED THE OJIBWE HORSE Launch at Take Cover Books
We're very excited to host local author Heather O'Connor for the launch of her new picture book (written in collaboration with Darcy Whitecrow), Across the Ice: How We Saved the Ojibwe Horse.

The event will feature a reading, followed by a discussion/Q&A moderated by Anne MacLachlan. Heather will also be signing books at the end of the evening. Topic of the reading will be the real-life events that inspired the book. The Ojibwe Horse is a very rare and little-known Indigenous-bred horse that in 1977 was saved from the brink of extinction. They call this rescue "the heist across the ice".

Across the Ice has received starred reviews from Booklist and Kirkus.
