Building with straw is a cheap and easy technique for many different building projects, from seats and garden walls to whole houses. Strawbale buildings are water- and vermin-proof, their fire rating is better than for most other building styles, and you need mostly unskilled labourers, so all your friends can help you build.
Learn how to build with strawbales during this hands-on workshop, where we will build a large strawbale bench for our new Nature Playground.
You will experience all basic steps you would encounter in any strawbale build - laying and stacking of the bales, cladding your structure in chicken wire, stitching, and rendering. If time allows, we will add a smooth tadelakt render as our last step.
Morning tea and lunch are included in the workshop price. We will cater for gluten-free and vegan participants. If you have any serious allergies, please let us know at

To provide the best experience, we can accommodate only ten participants in this workshop, so book your tickets early.

He thinks that anyone can learn to build with straw, and has taught numerous people through his projects.
