History comes to life at Perth Museum!

As part of Black History Month, drop in to Perth Museum and keep your eyes peeled for Joseph Knight as he shares his incredible story. Born in Africa and enslaved in Jamaica, Knight was brought to Scotland in the 18th Century, although he refused to accept a life without freedom.

His landmark legal case in 1778 challenged the very foundations of slavery in Scotland and ultimately changed the course of history. Throughout this engaging and informal encounter, you’ll discover how Joseph Knight came to be in Perth, learn about his life and times and explore why his fight for justice still resonates today.

Appearances occur at various times throughout the day.
