WAAPA's New Standards Ensemble shines a spotlight on the innovative works of trailblazing female composers such as Mary Lou Williams, Toshiko Akiyoshi and Carla Bley. Expect jazz music-making through a fresh lens, showcasing the creativity and artistry of a new generation eager to honour these influential voices. Then experience the genre-bending magic of the WAAPA Jazz-Fusion Ensemble, who push the boundaries of traditional jazz by blending jazz with elements of rock, funk and world music.
