Perfect for beginners or anyone who feels stuck on “auto” mode, this session gives you the foundations you need to capture photos you’re truly proud of.
We’ll meet at Bell Tower in Perth before heading on a relaxed photo walk through Elizabeth Quay, Wolf Lane, and London Court — stopping at a variety of spots with different lighting and compositions so you can practise your new skills in real time.
By the end, you’ll walk away feeling confident using your camera, understanding your settings, and shooting creatively — not just point and click.
What we’ll cover
Understanding how your camera works
Demystifying the buttons, modes, menus, and features you actually need.
The exposure triangle
Shutter speed, aperture and ISO — explained simply and applied during the walk.
Focus & depth of field
How to control your focus points and get the background blur you want.
White balance & colour
Getting natural colours in different lighting conditions around the city.
Composition made easy
Framing, leading lines, angles, and creative ideas as we explore each location.
Hands-on practice the entire time
Plenty of one-on-one guidance as we shoot throughout Bell Tower, Elizabeth Quay, Wolf Lane and London Court.
