Captain Moonlite is an original Australian musical, composed by Jye Bryant, first staged in 2019. It follows the true story of the infamous bushranger Captain Moonlight, and the man behind the legend, Andrew George Scott. The show explores his descent into a life of crime, the love he shared with his accomplice James Nesbitt, and ultimately his execution.
AUDITION INFORMATION
Our performance season starts May 8th and ends May 23rd. Rehearsal dates will be decided based on cast availability and will commence as soon as audition results are finalised.
During your audition, you will be asked to sing a 90 second cut of a musical theatre song of your choice. You will then be asked to perform one of the acting sides you will receive once you have booked an audition slot. It is up to you which side you prepare, and memorisation is not necessary, but we encourage you to familiarise yourself will all of the sides as we may ask you to read more than one to see how you fit in various roles. We will then ask you to learn a short piece of choreography (don’t stress if you’ve got two left feet, it’s not a very dance-heavy show).
We are committed to creating a creative space that welcomes a diverse range of talent. We encourage BIPOC performers and performers of all gender identities to audition for our show, as well as performers with disabilities - if you have worries or concerns about any of the show’s requirements (.e.g. if dancing or being onstage for long periods of time is difficult for you) please don’t hesitate to let us know so that we can accommodate you as much as possible. Additionally, don’t let the age ranges indicated discourage you from auditioning from a certain part. If you think you can pass for that age onstage, we’re happy for you to have a go!
Thank you so much for your interest in auditioning for Captain Moonlite. We are so excited to see what you have to offer and wish you all the best in your endeavours.
