Do you eat food? Do you garden? Do you like healthy soil? If you answered yes to any of these questions, this class is for you! Learn the magic behind transforming food scraps and yard waste into a beneficial end product. Don't have a spot to compost where you live? This class will also cover other creative options and local opportunities to keep these items out of the landfill and still make the magic happen.
If you'd like to leave the class with the proverbial recipe for the potion AND the magic wand, add the take-home composting kit option at registration to go home with everything you need to start.
Composting Kit: Recycle kitchen and yard waste and build your soils with a 65-gallon compost bin and turner kit. Comes with side vents, a securely latched lid, and built-in anchors to prevent wildlife access. Lucas Soil and Water Conservation District brings each bin flat for easy transport and quick to assemble on site. Add new scraps at the top and shovel out finished compost from the sliding door at the bottom. The turner helps to aerate your bin and speed up the composting process. Compost bin kit is $67.34 (includes tax).
