This month, we will be Nature Detectives as we explore the world outside the library. Our WOW! Wednesdays STEAM program for elementary students in kindergarten through fifth grade explores Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math! The group meets every Wednesday at our NEW TIME, from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm, in the Community Room. We will also have our Maker Space cart available for tinkering at each WOW! Wednesday. Our September activities include:
• September 3: We will go on a nature scavenger hunt, begin nature collection journals, and make pine cone bird feeders.
• September 10: We will explore the jungle outside the library by using magnifying glasses to explore one square foot, we will make paper caterpillars and race them, and we will make bug hotels.
• September 17: We will learn about the art of stone stacking, use Wikki Sticks to decorate rocks, and create stick art with sticks and yarn.
• September 24: We will identify leaves, do bark and leaf rubbings, and collect leaves to create leaf art.
This is a free, weekly activity and no registration is required. For more information, call the library at 515-465-3569, or visit www.perry.lib.ia.us.
