Emerging from the vibrant music scene of Minneapolis, MN in the early '70s, The Valdons ignited a local buzz with their raw energy. Despite initial success, the band dissolved without catching national attention, leading to the formation of The Philadelphia Story and Band of Thieves. In 2012, Secret Stash Records revived The Valdons. Original members Clifton Curtis, Maurice Young, and Monroe Wright III reunited, joining forces with labelmate Sonny Knight. Backed by Knight's band, The Lakers, and produced by label head and Lakers drummer Eric Foss with engineering by John Miller, they crafted timeless tracks; "Whatcha Gonna Do," "Stop, Wait a Minute Girl," and "Just How Much Can One Man Stand." Monroe Wright III's discovery of forgotten demos sparked these recordings. Secret Stash meticulously restored them, allowing The Lakers to help The Valdons transform them into fully realized masterpieces. The Valdons' soulful sound has captivated lowrider and soul oldies enthusiasts worldwide, solidifying their place as Minneapolis music legends.
