A Danish vocalist, songwriter, and musician, Poul Krebs released his first album, Efter Stormen, in 1979. He went on to have a career that would last more than 40 years and see the release of over 20 albums, many of which topped the Danish charts. Known for his versatile style, Krebs has explored various genres including rock, pop, and folk.
Born in 1956, the Aarhus native was a talented handball player before shifting his focus to a career in music in the late '70s. His first big hit, the Greg Walsh-produced album Fri Som Et Forår, arrived in 1990. This was followed by the commercial juggernaut Små Sensationer, featuring the hit single "Sådan Nogle Som Os," in 1995. The album landed Krebs five nominations at the Danish Grammy Awards that year. With success came the opportunity to collaborate with others -- De Tre Tenorer with Steffen Brandt and Michael Falch, for a start -- and the chance to perform outside Denmark, including stops in Greenland, France, and the United States. In 2004, he released the live album På en God Dag and two more hit records, 2006's Ku Den Næste Dans Blive Min? and the career-spanning box set Signatur, which broke the Top Five in early 2008. Krebs remained active in the 2010s, topping the Danish charts in 2014 (Asfalt) and 2017 (Maleren Og Delfinerne På Bugten), and continuing to garner commercial and critical success in the 2020s with efforts like 2022's Sange Til Natten and 2023's concert album Sidste Sommer (Live Fra Friheden). ~ Chris True, Rovi
