For over 33 years, Pongsit Kampee became to the legend and create inspiration for many younger artists after his generation. พงษ์สิทธิ์ คำภีร์ เริ่มเป็นที่รู้จักในปี พ.ศ.2533 จากเพลง "ตลอดเวลา" ในอัลบั้ม เสือตัวที่ 11 ซึ่งก่อนหน้านั้น เขาเคยออกอัลบั้มแรกในปี พ.ศ.2530 คืออัลบั้ม "ถึงเพื่อน" แต่ไม่ได้รับความนิยมและเป็นที่รู้จักในวงกว้าง พงษ์สิทธิ์เป็นที่รู้จักมากขึ้นจากเพลง "ตะวันชิงพลบ" ซึ่งเป็นเพลงประกอบละครในปี พ.ศ.2534 จากนั้นไม่นาน เขาได้ออกอัลบั้มชุดต่อมา คืออัลบั้ม "บันทึกการเดินทาง" ได้รับความนิยมอย่างล้นหลาม และดังสุดขีดในอัลบั้ม "มาตามสัญญา" เมื่อปี พ.ศ.2535 โดยมียอดขายเทปทะลุ 1 ล้านตลับ ถือเป็นการแจ้งเกิด พงษ์สิทธิ์ คำภีร์ อย่างเป็นทางการ จากวันนั้นถึงวันนี้ เป็นระยะเวลา 33 ปีแล้ว ที่ พงษ์สิทธิ์ คำภีร์ ยังคงโลดแล่นอยู่บนเส้นทางดนตรีของเมืองไทย และยังคงยืนหยัดในฐานะศิลปินเพลงเพื่อชีวิตอย่างสง่างาม
