About Nija

R&B vocalist, producer, and songwriter Nija got her start in the music industry writing tracks for enormous stars like SZA and Beyoncé, but she soon began applying her gifts for smooth yet adventurous instrumentals and lilting pop hooks to songs of her own. After writing for some of the bigger names in mainstream rap, pop, and R&B, Nija released a few solo singles in advance of her debut 2022 project Don't Say I Didn't Warn You. Nija was born Nija Charles in Union, New Jersey, in 1997. She began attending NYU in her late teens, studying production at the Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music. During this phase of her work, Nija would work on beats in her dorm room. After connecting with various music industry figures, she left school in 2017 and signed a deal with Universal Music Publishing Group. Over the next several years, Nija's songwriting and production skills came into high demand, and she worked on songs for everyone from 21 Savage to Lady Gaga. With multi-platinum credits under her belt, Nija issued her first collection of her own music in January 2022 with the EP-length project Don't Say I Didn't Warn You. In March of that year, a remix collection of material from Don't Say I Didn't Warn You was released, and Nija also contributed to Capella Grey's single "Confujawn." ~ TiVo Staff
