About MC Altaf

A popular hip-hop artist hailing from Asia’s largest slum, Dharavi, 20-year-old, Altaf Shaikh who goes by the moniker MC Altaf is popular for his Bronx’s inspired guileless approach to his music. After featuring in Zoya Akhtar’s Gully Boy in 2019, he became notorious for teaching Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh the ‘Bambaiya’ dialect for the film, and thereafter the latter also made a cameo appearance in the music video of his track ‘Wassup!’. Having a flair for ingenuity, he has collaborated with a multitude of artists including DIVINE, D’Evil, Ranveer Singh, 7 Bantaiz, Aavrutti, Loka, Shah Rule. After getting signed to DIVINE’s independent venture, Gully Gang Entertainment he contributed to the tracks ‘Brinks’, ‘Alag Hai Disha’ and ‘Flavours’ in the Mass Appeal India and Gully Gang Records promoted EP ‘Shutdown’ in 2020. On a humanitarian level, he also curated a novel track ‘Stay Home Stay Safe’ aimed to build COVID-19 awareness amongst Dharavi in India association with Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Today he is a strong contender in the battle of rap. He believes his contribution will raise the standards of the game!
