Describing their sound as inspired by lush and fancy arrangements from the 60’s, Bossa Nova Covers produce all their music from a small cabin in the Swedish archipelago. The Nordic duo consists of married couple My and Mats, both classically trained musicians with a passion for blues and jazz. Mats is raised in a household of Swedish melancholy ballads, his father a choir director. Together the duo have attended many jazz schools in Sweden. The duo’s first collection of covers was released in February 2019, which included covers of songs from fellow Swedish artists Zara Larsson and Avicii along with Bob Marley and The Rolling Stones. A few months later the Maroon 5 cover “Moves Like Jagger” followed the EP as a single. My’s vocals are accompanied by the duo’s Latin-inspired production; smooth guitars, light percussion and soulful choirs with samba and jazz rhythms. As My puts it: the sunset as seen from their cabin is used in every song.
