About Jah Prayzah

Mukudzeyi Mukombe known as Jah Prayzah is the last born in a family of five. As a young boy he liked writing, reading his father's Shona novels and swimming in the local rivers in his rural area. It is from this background that he developed a deep understanding of the Shona culture and literature. His secondary school Geography teacher went on to teach him how to play the Mbira, a traditional Zimbabwean music instrument also known as the thumb piano. Today the Mbira is his signature instrument.
In 2007, at the age of 20, he released his first commercially launched album, Sungano, with title song becoming a national, and his first, hit song. He went on to release two more albums and in 2013 he released his fourth album Tsviriyo and won a NAMA (National Arts Merit Award) award for song of the Year for the song "Gotchi Gotchi". In 2014 he released "Kumbumura Mhute". In the same year he won five NAMA awards and two ZIMA awards (Zimbabwe Music Awards). Jah Prayzah has scooped many more awards over the years including an MTV (MAMAs) listeners choice award in 2016. Today he is one of the most influential and decorated artists to come out of Southern Africa and has become an inspiration to many aspiring artists.
