About Hermes House Band

The place: Rotterdam. The year: 1984. The venue: the “Hermes” fraternity house. A recently-formed group, made up of students, takes to the stage. The crowd goes wild and… Hermes House Band is born. Fast forward to the present day and Hermes House Band is Europe’s #1 party band: a hit machine whose singles are international chart-toppers. In their early years Hermes House Band gained a reputation as the hottest live act on the Dutch party scene. Then, in 1994, they suddenly went from live favourites to hit-makers, when their single I Will Survive (Lalala) hit #1 in the Netherlands, and subsequently broke into the charts in many other countries. During the 1998 World Cup in France, the song’s catchy “Lalala” theme became the unofficial anthem of the French team’s fans. The breakout success of I Will Survive led to the band scoring hits in other European countries. Their remake of John Denver’s Country Roads reached the Top 10 in markets including Germany and the UK, becoming a party classic in its own right. Hermes House Band followed up this success with further global hits, including collaborations with DJ Ötzi, Tony Christie, Jürgen Drews and Lou Bega. And the beat goes on! Hermes House Band are fresh from hitting #1 in the French charts with a re-release of I Will Survive (Lalala). When the France football team blasted it out in front of the Élysée Palace, to celebrate their World Cup triumph, a whole new generation started partying to the Hermes House Band sound.
