Heather Sommer is a songwriter, visual artist and dog-obsessed human from New York. Her vulnerable and authentic lyrics touch on the trials and tribulations that come along with finding a voice and building self-confidence as a 20-something caught between the societal expectations and cultural borders of millennial and gen z generations. Growing up, she participated in select chorus and AP art classes. She enjoyed listening to Paramore, The Fray, John Mayer, Avril Lavigne and frequently watched episodes of Lizzy McGuire (a major Hilary Duff stan). All through grade school, her teachers, family and friends recognized her love for the visual and musical arts. After high school, she studied design and illustration, graduating with a BFA from SUNY Purchase. When Heather wasn’t prepping for an art review, she spent time performing at open mic nights and writing songs in her dorm room. As an independent artist, Heather has proven to be a highly noticeable force in today’s new wave of rising talent. Her chameleon-like vocals and unique writing style give her the capability to jump between genres. Her singles have landed on major Spotify Editorial and algorithmic playlists - over 25 New Music Fridays, 'Chilled Pop Hits', 'Chill Pop', 'Fresh Finds' and more.
