About Glykeria

For over 45 years, Glykeria has been a force on the Greek music scene, both at home and abroad. With over 25 Gold and Platinum albums to her credit and her participation in hundreds of compilations, she is—by far—one of Greece’s most prolific and popular female voices. The New York Times called her “legendary,” and The Boston Globe called her “the wonder of Greece,” following a sold out tour of North America. From Argentina to Montreal, South Africa to Scandinavia, throughout Asia and Oceania, she has earned the distinction of being called “The Voice of Greece” by the international media and millions of adoring fans. From her first personal album in 1980, to her most recent release—the very popular “Akolouthisa ena asteri” (“I followed a star”), Glykeria’s albums have received critical acclaim and have reached the top of the charts. Her 1983 release “Me Tin Glykeria Stin Omorfi Nyhta” remains one of the biggest selling albums in Greek music history. Her repertoire successfully navigates the fine line between commercialism and artistic credibility. She credits much of her success to Stelios Fotiadis, her husband and musical partner of twenty-five years who has also written most of Glykeria’s music. Glykeria has become a household name in many countries, with several albums released by major international labels in the United States, United Kingdom, Turkey, France, Germany and elsewhere.
