Dutch Americana
Dutch singer and songwriter Douwe Bob was born Douwe Bob Posthuma in Amsterdam on December 12, 1992. The son of Simon Posthuma of the designer group the Fool, he began playing piano at the age of 6 and picked up the guitar at the age of 14. Taking it easy is not applicable for this walking collection of contradictions. Douwe Bob is too much of a daredevil, cocktailshaker, bohemian, romantic, melancholic, party animal, poet, rock 'n' roller, charmer, night owl, sailor, poker player, style icon, city boy, and nature lover, all united in one person. In 2012 Douwe Bob won the first edition of "De Beste Singer-Songwriter van Nederland" (The Best Singer-Songwriter of the Netherlands). The debut album, Born in a Storm, was released in 2013. In 2016, he represented the Netherlands in the Eurovision Song Contest in Stockholm, with "Slow Down". Nominated for 6 Edison Awards (Dutch Grammy's) winning 3 times, Best Album for: Pass It On (2016), Fool Bar (2017) and The Shape I'm In (2019). Winner of two 3FM Awards. After the rootsy Americana album "Born To Win Born To Lose" (2021), he is back with two new singles: "This World Is Our Home" and "Nothing To Lose". Both are part of the new album Where Did All The Cool Kids Go? (produced by Gordon Groothedde). In 2023 he celebrated his 10th anniversary and appeared on the tv shows Beste Zangers and The Masked Singer. In 2024, a new documentary series will be released, following up on the IDFA doc "Whatever Forever" (2013).
