About Daniela Rathana

Daniela Rathana (b.1996) is a Swedish artist and songwriter who grew up in Akalla. Rathana was the name given to her mother in an orphanage in Thailand at the end of the Vietnam War. The name is Daniela’s own reminder to find out where she came from, and her music is a way to find out where to go now. “Where Strippers Go To Die” is Daniela’s sophomore album and the first single holds the same title. She takes us through a testimony with honesty and humor combined. A tale about reality that begins at the final destination. Since her debut EP "Halva vägen fri" (2020), Daniela has shown consistency in her reason to make music and has been acknowledged thereafter. Her debut album "Rathana Club" (2021) won "Pop of the Year" at the Swedish Grammys in 2022 and was awarded "Lyricist of the Year" at the Swedish Music Publishers' Prize the same year. Her tours "Rathana Club" and "School of Rathana" have been praised by critics and audiences alike, leading to a nomination for “Guldmicken” at P3 Guld 2023. Daniela supported Håkan Hellström at Ullevi 2023 and broke audience records in Scandinavia. She also attract interest internationally, in 2022 Stormzy sampled Daniela's debut single "Nu till livet" in "My Presidents Are Black".
