Born in 1954 in Sauda, Norway, Eidsvåg has worked as both a solo artist and behind the scenes with other musicians. An ordained Lutheran minister, Eidsvåg often references his Christian beliefs in his music though often in ways that are open-minded, thought-provoking, and critical of organized religion.
