About Alborosie

Immersing himself in the roots of the genre and Rastafari culture in general, he immediately found work as a sound engineer and producer, working with artists like Gentleman and Ky-Mani Marley. Alborosie than began to write his own material, and by 2008, he had released his own debut full-length album Soul Pirate, which included the hits, "Herbalist", "Kingston Town" and "Still Blazing". Also in 2008, Alborosie performed at the Uppsala Reggae Festival in Scandinavia- one of the largest, longest-running festivals of the genre. The following year, he released his sophomore full-length album, Escape from Babylon, and further established himself as an international reggae icon through performances around the world. In 2011, he received the top honors as Best Reggae Act in the MOBO Awards, an annual British awards ceremony that honors the achievements of artists and groups playing music of black origin. Two years later, he made an appearance in Chiemsee Reggae Summer 2013, a five-day music festival held in Übersee, Germany, and by the following year, his collaboration album Specialist Presents: Alborosie and Friends entered the Billboard Reggae Albums Chart at number 7. Five years later, Alborosie would make an appearance again on the same Billboard Reggae Albums Chart – this time at number 6 with his album Unbreakable: Alborosie Meets The Wailers United. His new album, Dub Pirate, was released in April 2024 with evosound, and is his seventh adventure into dub music.
