Choose from one of our many templates or create your own charcuterie board. You are welcome to bring your own texture tools. We have many stencils to add letters, shapes, stamps, etc. to create your masterpiece.
Process:
Preparing the clay: Start with a lump of clay and knead it to remove air bubbles and achieve a consistent texture.
Rolling out the slab: Using a rolling pin and guide sticks (or a specialized slab roller), flatten the clay into a sheet of desired thickness.
Adding texture or design: Before cutting, you can impress textures using various tools, materials, or even found objects like lace or stamps.
Cutting the slab: Once rolled and textured, cut the clay into shapes using cutting tools, templates, or freehand, depending on the desired form.
Assembling the pieces: Join the cut pieces using a technique called "slip and score." This involves scoring (roughing up) the edges of the pieces to be joined, applying slip (a liquid clay mixture), and then pressing the pieces together.
Finishing and shaping: Blend and smooth the joints with fingers or tools, and further shape the piece as desired.
Once completed, piece will need to dry for approx. 7 days, where we will Bisque fire your piece, and you will be able to come back at your own time to put glaze on item or you can add glaze the night of event and will kiln. If you choose to come back to glaze your piece, we will call / text when your item is ready for glazing.
