Public transit is more than just a way to get from one place to another. It is a tool for freedom, opportunity, and stronger communities. In this CivicCon event, we’ll explore how transit and our built environment can work together to expand choices and connect people to the things that matter most in their lives.
Participants will gain a clear understanding of the geometric principles at the heart of how transit works, helping to reveal where and how investments can align with community goals. We’ll also unpack the cultural and social assumptions that shape how transit is perceived, while examining how land use patterns can either support or hinder effective systems.
Drawing from real-world examples across the U.S. and abroad, as well as lessons from right here in our own community, this event will highlight how thoughtful planning can create more freedom for everyone.
