Whether you are a complete beginner, or are looking to refresh your skills, we’ll give you the insight and confidence to get outdoors on your own or with friends.
You’ll learn the skills to enable you to safely and confidently explore new places and plan your own routes.
Skills we’ll cover include: an introduction to maps, understanding map symbols and contours, orientating the map and learning to use a compass, using timing and pacing, understanding features, the 5 Ds of navigation, taking a bearing, navigation strategies.
These sessions are designed to offer you a safe and supportive space to gain confidence and skills in a small and friendly group. For women who think they can’t. We’re here to help you learn that you can!
Location: Askham Fell, near Haweswater
