Sculpture Casting & Mold-Making in Plaster with Regina Doi #1

Since antiquity, plaster has been a fundamental medium in replicating artworks. This course focuses on the production of plaster castings and waste molds– molds which must be broken away to reveal the cast sculpture and, therefore, can produce only a single casting. With instructor guidance, students will create two or one-part plaster waste molds of their clay sculpture/3d object and pour a plaster casting of their art. Plaster finishing and faux metal techniques will complete this introductory course to sculpture casting and mold-making. Students from the previous clay portrait sculpture course and new students of all skill levels wanting to learn mold-making are welcome!
