The Iron Torathon is back again for 2025!
What is the Iron Torathon?
It’s a social riding challenge to raise funds for the Cradle Coast Mountain Club that go towards the development and maintenance of the Penguin MTB Park and Dial Range trails.
Who can do it, and how difficult is it?
It’s as hard or difficult as you want to make it. The challenge is to do as many laps of Iron Tor/Montgomery loop or the easier Montgomery Loop only, on the day of the challenge. You could do just one loop or as many as you can physically manage. The Montgomery Loop is a 6km green rated loop and the full Iron Tor/Mongomery loop is 12km but with a whole lot more elevation.
How does it work?
There will be a sign up page leading up to the event where you can register and you or sponsors can donate to for you lap goals. Then rock up at any time on December 13th and go ride. There will be a tally board to record your laps on, and you don’t have to do all laps in one sitting. You could go down into town for a meal and come back if you desire. There’s no start time or finish time, and no timing, you just ride as much or as little as you want.
I’m very competitive, is there a winner?
While it is a more of a social event, there will be the chance to get your name on the perpetual Iron Torathon trophy for the most men’s or women’s laps of the full Iron Tor/Monty loop.
(You will need to record your ride on Strava or similar for proof, and the Men’s record is 12.5 and the Women’s is 10)
