Temari is an ancient form of Japanese embroidery. Originally, Temari were created as play things for children, but over time the making of Temari evolved into a serious art form. In Japan, Temari are given as highly prized gifts. Patterns seen in Temari are often geometric and usually symmetrical, with many of the design elements being based upon nature. In appearance, most are very reminiscent of a kaleidoscope's patterns. Designs are formed either with the thread, or by the "negative (or white)" space image that is left once the pattern is stitched.

In this course you will learn the basics of designing and stitching your first Temari. The instructor will charge a $7 fee payable by cash or check on the day of the workshop.
