Field Session: TKO’s Access Recreation Accessibility Assessment

Join TKO staff leadership in a leisurely walk along the west end of the Pendleton River Parkway. Learn what it takes to join the TKO Trail Accessibility Survey Team, a collaboration between Trailkeepers of Oregon and Access Recreation! Through this program, volunteers are trained on how to gather useful data on trails and trailheads, which is then input on OregonHikers.org so people of all abilities can make decisions about what adventures are right for them. No background or experience is required to join on Thursday, November 6 from 9:30am - 11:00am. Our trained and experienced TKO Survey Team will show you the process of collecting accessibility information, hopefully inspiring you to join a future training and get involved.

NOTE: This field session will meet up at Pendleton River Parkway, west end Trailhead Park

Information for participants:

• Estimated distance: <¼ mile
• Estimated elevation gain/mile: <50 feet
• Difficulty: Easy, mostly flat, stroller friendly
• Gear suggestions: Sturdy shoes, water, sunscreen
• We welcome those with accessibility needs to participate. The site will have accessible parking, and trails will be observed in their level of accessibility.
• Pace: Leisurely
• Terrain type: Mainly paved, with some dirt or gravel side trails
• Are accessible bathrooms available? Yes, at the trailhead and on paved trail only.
• Is there cell reception? Yes
• Are there places to sit and take a break? Yes
