Shrill Carder Bee Safari Day Gupton Farm

Join Shrill carder bee project for a chance to meet our rarest bumblebee!

The day will start at The National Trust's Gupton farm campsite, where we will briefly learn about the management of the site and learn about the Shrill carder bee. Wales' fastest declining bumblebe with a brief intro to identification tips in the field.

we will then explore the site making our way down to Freshwater west dune, stoping to identify bumblebees and other pollinators. participants will have a chance to contribute to national citizen science scheme Beewalk and learn from proffesional conservationists who are working to protect the species on site.

participantsd will then have the option to break for lunch (Don't forget to pack your sandwiches) at the dunes. before returning to Gupton farm.

This event is free and is suitable for adults of all abilities, including absolute beginners, although to get the most out of it we recommend familiarising yourself with some of the Trust's training webinars in identifying Common Bumblebees:

Please bring suitable clothing and provisions for an afternoon outdoors, all training materials and equipment will be provided free of charge.

Natur am Byth partnership is Wales’ flagship Green Recovery project. It unites nine environmental charities with Natural Resources Wales (NRW) to deliver the country’s largest natural heritage and outreach programme to save species from extinction and reconnect people to nature.
